Last updated: August 7, 2026
These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern the use of the HNS First Aid & CPR website and the purchase and participation in courses, workshops and related services offered by HNS First Aid & CPR (“HNS,” “we,” “us” or “our”).
By using our website, submitting a registration, making a payment or attending a course, you agree to these Terms, our Privacy Policy and our Refund, Cancellation and Course Transfer Policy.
Please do not complete a registration if you do not agree with these Terms.

HNS provides first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, automated external defibrillator and related safety training.
Courses may include:
Basic First Aid and CPR
Intermediate First Aid and CPR
CPR Level C and AED
Basic Life Support
Recertification training
Blended online and in-person training
Corporate, group and onsite training
Course names, requirements, content, duration and certification standards may change in response to training-provider, regulatory or industry requirements.
2. Information on the Website
We make reasonable efforts to ensure that course descriptions, schedules, prices and other website information are accurate.
However:
Typographical or technical errors may occur;
Course dates, instructors, locations and availability may change;
Photographs may be illustrative;
Website information may not reflect an immediate operational change; and
Course standards may be updated by the applicable program provider.
HNS may correct an error or update information before or after a registration. When a material error affects a confirmed purchase, we will provide an appropriate correction, transfer or refund as required.
3. Registration Eligibility
Participants must:
Provide complete and accurate registration information;
Meet all stated age, prerequisite and recertification requirements;
Register under their legal or properly documented name;
Provide valid identification when requested;
Provide an eligible previous certificate for recertification courses;
Complete required online learning before the deadline; and
Be able to participate safely in required course activities, with reasonable accommodation where available.
HNS may refuse or cancel a registration where eligibility requirements are not met.
4. Registration on Behalf of Another Person
A person registering another participant confirms that they:
Are authorized to provide the participant’s information;
Have informed the participant of these Terms;
Have provided accurate contact and eligibility information; and
Will ensure the participant receives all course instructions.
The person making payment and the participant may both be responsible for complying with the applicable booking terms.
For participants under the age of majority, parent or guardian consent may be required.
5. Prices and Taxes
Course prices are shown in Canadian dollars unless stated otherwise.
Applicable taxes and additional costs will be shown during registration, at checkout, in a quotation or on an invoice.
HNS may change prices at any time. A price change will not normally affect a fully paid and confirmed registration unless the displayed price resulted from an obvious error.
Discounts, promotional codes and special offers are subject to their stated restrictions and expiry dates.
6. Payments
Payment must be made using an approved payment method.
Payments may be processed through an independent payment processor. By using a third-party payment service, you also agree to the applicable provider’s terms and privacy practices.
A registration is not confirmed until payment or an approved payment arrangement has been received and HNS has issued confirmation.
You authorize HNS and its payment providers to process the charges disclosed at checkout.
7. Booking Confirmations
Participants are responsible for reviewing their confirmation and notifying HNS promptly of errors involving:
Name spelling
Email address
Telephone number
Course type
Course level
Course date
Course location
Certification requirements
Participants must also check spam or junk-mail folders for course communications.
Failure to read a properly sent confirmation or reminder does not remove the participant’s responsibility to attend and complete the course requirements.
8. Blended and Online Learning
A blended course may include an online component followed by an in-person session.
Participants are responsible for:
Providing a valid email address;
Using a compatible device and reliable internet connection;
Accessing the online platform promptly;
Completing the module independently;
Completing the module by the stated deadline; and
Providing evidence of completion when requested.
Online access is normally for the registered participant only and may not be shared, copied, resold or transferred.
Technical difficulties should be reported promptly. Waiting until the course date to report a technical issue may prevent course completion and does not automatically entitle the participant to a refund.
9. Attendance and Punctuality
Participants must attend the entire scheduled course and complete all required components.
Participants arriving late may be refused entry because training and certification programs may require minimum instructional hours.
Leaving early, missing a component or failing to return from a break may result in non-completion.
HNS is not required to issue a refund when certification cannot be provided because of a participant’s lateness, absence or failure to complete course requirements.
10. Participant Conduct
Participants must behave respectfully and safely.
HNS may remove a participant who:
Threatens, harasses or discriminates against another person;
Disrupts instruction;
Participates while impaired;
Fails to follow safety instructions;
Misuses equipment;
Cheats or falsifies course information;
Records others without permission;
Engages in unauthorized commercial activity; or
Creates a risk to themselves or others.
A participant removed for misconduct will not normally receive a refund or certificate.
11. Physical Participation and Accommodation
First aid and CPR training may involve physical activity, including kneeling, movement, practice with training equipment and demonstration of practical skills.
Participants are responsible for considering whether they can participate safely.
Participants requiring an accommodation should contact HNS before the course. HNS will make reasonable efforts to provide an appropriate accommodation, subject to:
Course learning objectives;
Essential certification requirements;
Participant and instructor safety;
Facility and equipment limitations; and
Training-provider requirements.
An accommodation cannot remove an essential competency that must be demonstrated for certification.
Participants should not provide detailed medical information unless it is reasonably necessary to support an accommodation request.
12. Assessments and Certification
Registration, payment and attendance do not guarantee successful certification.
Certification may require:
Full attendance;
Completion of online learning;
Participation in practical activities;
Successful skills demonstrations;
A passing examination score;
Compliance with conduct requirements; and
Satisfaction of program prerequisites.
Certificates may be issued by HNS, an authorized training provider or another applicable certification organization.
HNS may withhold or correct a certificate where:
Course requirements were not met;
Incorrect information was supplied;
Payment remains outstanding;
Academic or assessment misconduct occurred; or
A clerical or administrative correction is required.
Participants are responsible for confirming that a course and certificate satisfy the requirements of their employer, educational institution, professional body or other requesting organization before registering.
HNS does not guarantee that every employer or organization will accept a particular course or certificate.
13. Certificate Information
Participants must ensure that the name supplied during registration is correct.
Fees may apply to replace or correct a certificate when the error was caused by inaccurate information submitted by the participant.
Certificate validity periods and recertification requirements are determined by the applicable course standard or certification provider and may change.
14. Course Changes and Cancellations
HNS may change an instructor, room, facility, schedule or course format where reasonably necessary.
HNS may postpone or cancel a course because of insufficient enrolment, instructor unavailability, severe weather, facility issues, public-health concerns, technical failures or circumstances outside our reasonable control.
Available remedies are explained in our Refund, Cancellation and Course Transfer Policy.
15. Educational Purpose and Emergency Disclaimer
HNS courses provide education and practical training. Website information and course materials are not individualized medical diagnosis, treatment or legal advice.
In an actual emergency, contact emergency services by calling 911 or the applicable local emergency number.
Participants must apply their training according to:
The circumstances of the emergency;
Their current level of training;
Applicable laws and workplace procedures;
Instructions from emergency personnel; and
Updated training standards.
HNS does not guarantee a particular outcome in an actual emergency.
16. Corporate and Onsite Training
Corporate, workplace, group and onsite training may be governed by a separate quotation, contract or service agreement.
The client may be responsible for:
Providing a suitable and safe training space;
Confirming participant numbers;
Ensuring participants meet prerequisites;
Providing access, parking or site instructions;
Communicating workplace hazards;
Paying the agreed minimum charge; and
Ensuring the environment allows the course to be delivered properly.
Where a separate written agreement conflicts with these general Terms, the separate agreement will govern that booking.
17. Intellectual Property
The HNS website and its original content, branding, graphics, course-support materials and other protected materials are owned by or licensed to HNS.
Unless written permission is provided, users may not:
Copy or republish website content;
Record a course;
Reproduce training materials;
Share online-course access;
Sell or distribute course content;
Use HNS branding or logos;
Create derivative commercial materials; or
Remove copyright or ownership notices.
Materials belonging to a certification or training provider remain the property of that provider.
Limited personal notes may be taken for lawful, non-commercial study purposes unless otherwise directed.
18. Photographs, Video and Audio
Participants may not photograph, film or audio-record instructors or other participants without permission.
HNS will obtain appropriate consent before using an identifiable participant’s image, recording or testimonial for marketing purposes.
Training-area security footage, where used, will be managed for legitimate safety and security purposes.
19. Website Use
You agree not to:
Interfere with website operation or security;
Attempt unauthorized access to an account or system;
Submit false, fraudulent or malicious information;
Upload malware or harmful code;
Use automated tools to scrape or overload the website;
Impersonate another person;
Infringe intellectual-property or privacy rights; or
Use the website for unlawful purposes.
HNS may block access or cancel a transaction associated with suspected misuse or fraud.
20. Third-Party Services and Links
Our website may use or link to independent services such as:
Payment processors
Online-learning platforms
Mapping services
Video platforms
Social-media websites

HNS does not control independently operated third-party platforms and is not responsible for their availability, security, content or separate policies.
21. Disclaimer of Warranties
To the extent permitted by law, the website and services are provided on an “as available” basis.
HNS does not guarantee that:
The website will always be uninterrupted or error-free;
Every course will be offered on every requested date;
A participant will pass an assessment;
A certificate will satisfy every employer or organization;
Training will produce a particular employment or emergency outcome; or
Third-party systems will always remain available.
Nothing in these Terms excludes warranties, guarantees or consumer rights that cannot legally be excluded.
22. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, HNS will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses arising from website use, course registration, schedule changes or participation.
Examples may include lost income, missed employment opportunities, childcare, transportation, parking, accommodation or other personal expenses.
Where liability cannot be excluded, HNS’s liability will be limited only to the extent legally permitted.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability for fraud, wilful misconduct, gross negligence or any liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.
23. Indemnity
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to be responsible for losses or claims caused by your:
Unlawful use of the website;
Intentional misconduct;
Fraudulent registration;
Infringement of another person’s rights; or
Unauthorized copying or distribution of protected materials.
This provision does not apply to the extent that a loss was caused by HNS.
24. Privacy
Personal information is handled according to our Privacy Policy.
By registering, you confirm that information submitted is accurate and that you are authorized to provide it.
25. Changes to These Terms
HNS may update these Terms to reflect changes in services, law, technology or training requirements.
The Terms in effect at the time of a confirmed purchase will generally govern that transaction unless a change is legally required or agreed to by the parties.
Updated Terms will be posted with a revised effective date.
26. Severability
If a provision of these Terms is found to be unlawful or unenforceable, it will be limited or removed only to the extent necessary. The remaining provisions will continue to apply.
27. No Waiver
A delay or failure by HNS to enforce a provision does not waive our right to enforce it later.
